Poised along the Gulf of Mexico, the beaches in the Bradenton area are known for their soft sands, wide expanses, and stunning sunsets. There are a number to choose from – each with their own distinct character, whether you like lively settings or a more secluded experience. Anna Maria Island

The furthest south on Anna Maria Island, Coquina Beach is a popular destination with soft white sand and plenty of amenities. You’ll appreciate the full-service concession stand, lots of parking, barbeque and picnic tables, boat ramp, playground, restrooms, showers and lifeguard stations. There are even some yummy restaurants within walking distance.

Bradenton/Cortez Beach | 698 Gulf Dr S, Bradenton Beach, 34217
Sugar white sands await across the street from restaurants, ice cream joints, and local shops. Cortez Beach is known for three concrete fishing piers that welcome anglers and sun seekers of all ages. You’ll also find restrooms, lifeguards, free parking, and an outdoor restaurant to boot.

Bean Point Beach | 793 N Shore Dr, Anna Maria, FL 34216
A hidden gem among beaches, Bean Point Beach is situated on the northern tip of Anna Maria. Without a dedicated parking lot, the white sands and warm aquamarine waters stay uncrowded. Look for parking on the street and then a boardwalk path of sea oats which leads you to the soft, white sands. Once there, you may spot marine wildlife, from dolphins to stingrays.

Longboat Key

Public Beach 100 Broadway | 7001 Seabreeze Ave, Longboat Key, FL
A peaceful setting to relax and get away from it all, this public beach is located on the northern end of Longboat Key. With limited parking and no restrooms or lifeguards, this beach stays quiet but beloved by those who frequent it. A long boardwalk whisks visitors to the seashore where clear water, plenty of seashells, and Instagram-worthy sunsets vista await.

Beer Can Island | N Shore Rd, Longboat Key, FL
A beloved hideaway with mangroves and a steady supply of diftwood, Beer Can Island is a one-of-a-kind beach in an area known for one-of-a-kind beaches. With no adjacent parking, visitors will arrive by boat, bicycle, or park at the public beach parking lot at the 100 Broadway beach and walk about ten minutes to this one. With Longboat Pass leading out to the Gulf, the currents can be strong, so best to stay closer to shore – which shouldn’t be a problem, surrounded by so much tropical natural beauty.
