Pine View

Pine View School in Osprey, Florida has been named the No. 1 school in the entire state and among the best public schools in the United States. From second grade through high school, this gifted magnet program nurtures a passion for intellectual curiosity and encourages independence, innovation, and social responsibility. Many students graduating from Pine View go on to attend the very best colleges and universities in the nation. While Pine View is a public school, entrance requirements are selective. Prospective students are admitted based on the gifted identification standards required by the Florida Department of Education. The school is held in such high regard, some families relocate to Sarasota from other parts of the state and nation if their child is accepted.

Ringling College of Art

Ringling College of Art and Design is a private college in Sarasota with a focus on art and design. The school boasts a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1 and offers degrees in everything from motion graphics and game art, to film, design, illustration, animation and more. For the last 85 years, Ringling College has strived to create globally aware and socially responsible leaders of art and design. This prestigious school attracts students from all over the world with 20% of the student population international and only 34% from Florida. The school brings in renowned, successful visiting artists from top studios, brands, and businesses to help teach, guide, and critique students’ work. Ringling College aims early on to bring student thinking beyond the classroom and into the professional arena. The campus is in north Sarasota not far from the Ringling Museum and the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

Out of Door Academy

The-Out-of-Door Academy (ODA) is a leading private school with two campuses – one on Siesta Key and one in Lakewood Ranch. ODA was established in 1924 and serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This college-preparatory academy offers an upper school program with rigorous honors and advanced placement courses. Beyond academics, there are over forty sports teams, thirty annual arts performances, and more than fifty student-run clubs. The school boasts a 9:1 student-faculty ratio. Its college counseling program is designed to ensure admission into top colleges and universities. Since 1999, 100% of all graduates have been accepted into a 4-year college or university.

LECOM

LECOM (Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine) is the largest medical school in the nation and is a private graduate school of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. It’s four branches include a state-of-the-art campus in Lakewood Ranch which opened in 2012. In 2021, the school was recognized by U.S. News & World Report for producing more primary care physicians than any other U.S. medical school. LECOM is also known for offering the lowest tuition among private U.S. medical schools - at just $37,200 per student per year, based on 2020 information. The school currently enrolls more than 4,400 students across all disciplines, including its College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dental Medicine, School of Health Services Administration and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
